I have been a Conservative Executive member at Hyndburn since 2013 and am currently Secretary. I am also Secretary of Great Harwood Civic Society. I am not with Churchfield House now but the experience of being a Churchfied House Director and general factotum has been useful in keeping me up to date with training, legislation, equal opportunities, protecting vulnerable adults etc. My interest will always be in jobs, training, small business, environment - particularly our built environment, education and yes more recently older people and their care and welfare. I am still Secretary of Bank Mill House Senior Citizens Centre, which I hope will soon reopen as one of the centres for the people from Rishton, Great Harwood, Clayton and Altham to enjoy.
I previously worked as a Job Centre Manager in Blackburn, then in Burnley and then moved into the Regional office. Following that I was employed as a Job Creation manager, managing a team of 13, before being seconded to ELTEC, then Business Link supporting small business.
Jobs, training and small businesses, are important to me and I believe are the life blood of the local economy. If elected I will champion business, education and support for those that need it.
